He was a wonderful man & we will all miss him very much. I know he was a believer & that he is in heaven now with the Lord. So our loss is Grandpa's gain. While we will miss him he is no more pain & no more suffering. In fact he's probably running like he hasn't in years, eating the most wonderful food, seeing the most beautiful sights & best of all he is seeing the Lord face to face!About a 6 weeks ago he was in the hospital & we thought he might pass then. To our pleasant surprise he made a full recovery. 2 weeks ago he went to a wedding & he danced with his wife of 66 years & I cannot believe how wonderful & healthy he looks in this picture taken the same day.
That was his last big event here on earth. We went to his funeral on Friday & because he was in the Navy they came & honored him with a flag for grandma Lohr (his wife) & they also played Taps. It was a very emotional day & very hard to know we will never see him sitting in his chair & have those wonderful talks when go to visit, but we also know we will see him again in heaven & that gives us comfort.
At the funeral Allen got to read a letter he wrote to him thanking him for who he was, I will post that letter after this entry. After the service we went back to Allen's Aunt Janice & Uncle Tom's home for a celebration of life party. It was very nice to see everyone & Allen said he could feel grandpa's presence there that day.
Here is a copy of the actual obituary from the newspaper.Grandpa we love you & you will be missed every day, until will see each other again.
